Wandering the World

Cote d'Azure, Nice

This is Melissa's last day in the

Cote d'Azure. We spent it in Nice.

I wanted to show her the Monday's

Antiques and Flea Market

Cours Saleya Nice.

We started out with a yummy lunch at Garibaldi's restaurant located on the

Garibaldi Square near the port side of the Old Town Nice.

Afterwards we walked the maze of shops through the Old Town.

Our first stop is a favorite tea shop of mine, making a few purchases before continuing through the narrow streets that periodically open up to squares with beautiful churches, restaurants and more shops. The buildings are tall, close together and are in no particular order creating a maze of photo opportunities. It's a favorite district for natives and tourist to shop and eat.

I explained to Melissa that gelato and chocolate do not count as dessert, this means we can have all three. She quickly comprehended this logic.

So, we had to grab a gelato to get us to our destination, it's shopping fuel.

I had an almond, pistachio, orange flower flavor.

Melissa had 1 scope of coffee & chocolate chip mint.

Why decide when you can have both!

We finally made it to the antiques market where we shopped some more. Afterwards we stopped for refreshments & a bite to eat, consisting of onion soup and socca.

( Socca is a traditional culinary specialty of Nicoise cuisine, made from chickpea flour and olive oil, cooked and browned in a wood-fired oven. )

We decided to make an early night. So we began our walk back to the port winding our way back through the maze of Old Town streets.

But not before picking up chocolates and dessert at the corner Chocolatier!!!

When we exited at the top, I took Melissa across street to the park in front of the gorgeous high school. The park is filled with places to sit, playground equipment, and surrounded by exotic plantings.

We traveled the coastal road home from Nice to Antibes enjoying the palm trees laced with lights.

The creative soul of Antibes had these flood light images projecting fun shapes on the paved square when we popped up from our car garage. There was also an angel in our parking spot.

Made us smile.

So fun!

We enjoyed our Daisies Adventure with Melissa this holiday in the Cote d'Azure.

Safe Journey Home... au revoir!
